Keep your cool

I have lived in the darkness for so long, I am waiting for the light to shine.

The audition waiting area is littered with distractions.

It’s actually something I dread about the audition process. Waiting in a small area queued up with other actors, all vying for the same position? On top of the usual stress that accompanies an audition… it’s madness! How are we ever to be successful with that kind of set up? Not to mention the other distractions that come along with that — Watching the casting director warmly greet an actor, while you obviously fidget realizing you don’t know the casting director nearly that well. Or the small group of actors chatting away about this or that, leaving you to wonder when you’ll begin to make contacts like that. To the uber flexible dancer doing the spilts. And don’t forget the actors running lines and humming the song. Welp, the actress that just went in sounds amazing… aw man, are they laughing in there too? I should just leave right now, save everyone’s time.

Yes, that is a list of things that I have thought about while waiting to audition. That is a true list of my fears and my insecurities on display. But I feel comfortable sharing it with you, because I know I’m not alone.

The worst thing we can do in the audition waiting area, is get distracted and let those distractions throw us off our game. Yes, there are distractions. Now what are you going to do about it?

Check out my video below to get some awesome tips on how to keep your cool in the audition waiting area, so that you don’t let all of that hard preparation go to waste.
